Cursor

Updated

Generate your config

Pick one or more models and press Confirm. The config below is regenerated so every model you picked is ready to use. The first model you pick becomes the default. Context, output limits, and prices come from the model catalog.

Loading models…

Put your everyais key and base URL into Cursor's OpenAI API key settings. Requests go through Cursor's servers to everyais. Cursor does not fetch a model list from the base URL, so you add the models you want yourself.

Connect

  1. In Cursor, open Settings (⚙️) → Models and expand API Keys below the model list.
  2. Turn on Override OpenAI Base URL and enter https://api.everyais.com/v1 in Base URL. Do this before the key: Cursor sends its key check to this URL.
  3. Enter your everyais key in the OpenAI API Key field, turn on Use OpenAI API Key, and confirm "Enable OpenAI API Key". Cursor sends a check request to that URL and the switch stays on once it passes (older versions show a Verify button instead).
  4. In Add or search model above the model list, enter each model ID you picked in "Generate your config", exactly as shown including everyais/, and press Add Custom Model → Add. Repeat per model and make sure its switch is on.
  5. In the chat input's model menu, pick an everyais model you added.

Good to know

  • Models Cursor already lists are not everyais models. Names starting with claude- or gemini- (such as claude-opus-5-5) run on Cursor's own billing. Other models (such as GPT) are sent to everyais while the base URL override is on, and fail with model_not_found if everyais has no model by that name.
  • This applies to chat and agent models. Tab autocomplete keeps using Cursor's own model.
  • Turn the OpenAI API Key switch off to go back.
  • Cursor may hide thinking text that comes from a custom API.
  • Cursor has no per-model fields for context, output limits, or prices. "Generate your config" gives only the values the connection needs.
  • Cursor shows no reasoning effort setting for added models, and with a custom base URL it doesn't send one. Add the model with the effort at the end of its ID instead (for example everyais/gemini-3-8-flash:high). The value is one of none, minimal, low, medium, high, xhigh, or max that the model accepts. To switch effort, add the same model again with another level. A value the model doesn't accept is changed to one it does, with a note in x_everyais.parameter_warnings.

Troubleshooting

SymptomWhat to check
The Use OpenAI API Key switch will not stay onCheck that you set the base URL before the key, that it ends in /v1, and that the key has no spaces
404 model_not_foundCheck that you picked an everyais model you added, that its ID includes everyais/, and that the key allows it
A model name error in agent modeSome Cursor plans and versions block custom models there. Try chat mode first
